The last venture
5/4/2023
This would be our last shooting (reshoot) day, as the deadline closes in on us. Moreover, the pressure of getting it to match the continuity and lighting of previous shot weights on. As this stage drags on, if would negatively effect our post prodution pace.
At around 4pm, we gathered at Zon's house for a quick crew meal, make up, revising of all gears and set foot onto the location at around 6.30 pm (we were procrastinating hard)
- Location: Nearby alleyway
- Equipment: Canon EOS Kiss X4, tripod, zooming lens
- Personnel: Group mate: me, Nat, Renee, Zon
- General rating: We were struggling a lot with external factor such as running out of battery or the night falling too fast. Filming spans to around 9pm, and at that point we were so tired by the heat and the constant running (for both Nat and our cinetographer - Zon). However, we knew we had to settle to what we had in this last shot
As we are wrapping up production, we figured to photograph the 4 of us in the same picture. Our camera battery was running low at that point, so that I had to fidget my phone onto the camera tripod and put a timer on there. There was genuine concern for my phone falling down but we digress.
π± What we did good:
We were having a lot of fun and generally enjoying ourselves during shooting, which is crucial for any project as higher morale will lead to higher productivity and catering to details. We include one more shot (that initially not in our shot list/storyboard/script) that we decided while obtaining the prop gun. However, we did have a strong visualization of that shot, thus it runs quite smoothly and to our liking.
Moreover, we did well with improvisation and decision making. In particular, as our battery ran out mid-shot, we went to a sushi restaurant nearby to ask them for a recharge, and in the meantime we shot our production crew and poster for distribution.
π± What could be better:
We could have better time management (which is a pattern for us at this point), although I don't want to push our working pace too much, as generally we were having fun and inspired by our production. Moreover, we could improve by having more footage and experiment more with the footage so that our edition would have more choices post production. However, I understand that we were too tired and repetitive to experiment more shot types, and we had already revise the shots of the same location from previous day. The lighting for these footages is somewhat different fro our prevous ones, as the alley has mounted more streetlight, but we could fix the color and tint post production.
➡️➡️ Generally, we were having fun and getting the shoot completed with continuity of the sky lighting.
