GRWM >/< (Editing task)

 Continuity edits

(as one has butchered the editing-me...)

Enjoy my everyday livelihood as shown in the video :> this is long, multiple steps morning routine may just be an excuse for me to run late to class everyday, but it was fun documented it and posing on camera <3 i hope my room is nice and "aesthetic" enough.
Next time I'll gain the courage to show my entire face or even talking in videos

  • I think the finished sequence is quite effective in conveying a general atmosphere of my morning routine, as it depicts how cumbersome, sequential yet somewhat boring it is. I don't intend to begin my day with an upbeat motion, as some days just feel too troublesome to start, and give the sequence a general authentic approach to it (pretty vulnerable, too :,).
  • Moreover, I think the variety of setting and movement of camera (from my bedroom to looking outside the window, to my bathroom and back to the bedroom's closet) was really fun to plan out ahead and experiment with. Having no equipment and being single-handedly hold and/or appear on camera was complicated, as I had to find innovative ways to hold the camera steady (partly resulted in unmatching eye line). However, it was intriguing to set up and imagine ahead how the frame would turn out. Thus, there were repetitive retakes on transitions or walking sequence.
  • It was also the first formal editing task I've ever taken on. The program was easy to manage and navigate, and there were some really applicable features. I especially enjoy putting the two frame together and cut to make them match (continuity editing), but it was a complicated matter as the eye line didn't match/frame out of proportion/no continuity in transition; in addition to having no split screen in editing view.
What could be improve if I had more time or better equipment?
  • I've definitely purchased a tripod so that the framing is consistent, thus lessening the impact of frame getting out of proportion to the next transition, making it choppy and teary.
